The presecurity check waiting area is the most likely place that
a traveler will be pick pocketed, scammed or have their belonging stolen such
as lap tops. Laptops are a high theft item due to the fact that it is a valuable
item. The information that is on the lap top of a business person will have a
    high worth on it's own.
According to a BBC article "Young women tricked into coming to England,
often by boyfriends, are being sold off in auctions at airport coffee shops as
soon as they arrive." Air port rest rooms in some countries are patrolled by
sexual deviates who are on the look out for selling themselves for sex or
sexual predators sexually assaulting boys or girls in the restroom. Many such
crimes go unreported, but through support groups you can hear about travel
crimes that were committed against children as well as adults. The linked
article is not the majority, but it gives a little insight as to the reality of the
crime at any given air port around the world.

Typical crimes to look out for:

  • Property theft
  • Identity theft
  • Shoplifting
  • Abductions
  • Human slave trade/sex trade
  • Sex crimes

    Terror attacks:

  • Package bomb
  • Suicide bombers
