Shamuel B. Kohen

Shamuel started his martial arts training in 1974 at the young
age of 6, learning Krav Maga from his father in Israel. Later as
his interests in the martial arts grew he joined a Tae Kwon Do
club, where he competed in the older style of Tae Kwon Do a
much more combative style of Tae Kwon Do than we have today.
Later in his teens Shamuel hooked up with another great friend
and teacher Mr. Levi and Shamuels interest in Kick boxing grew
in 1983, while training also in other systems such as Goju and Ishin ryu Karate-Do.
Shamuel also at this time grew to love Bruce Lee who became his idol, in his teen years he
took up the study of Kung Fu, Wu Shu and Hun Gar Kung Fu in 1984. After moving
around to other parts of the world due to his parents employment, Shamuel took up Wing
Tsun Kung Fu and Escrima in 1986. He fell in love with Wing Tsun and Escrimas reality
based style of fighting. Seeing that his interest in competition was his blood he started boxing
and Muay Thai Kick boxing training and local competitions from 1987 to 1995. In 1986
Shamuel also got involved in security and protective work for local companies as well as
nightclubs, through some down and dirty fights he was enlightened to the fact that grappling
is a must for completing yourself as a martial artist. He searched around and joined a local
Judo and Jiu Jitsu club in 1987.

With some of his pals they sparred with the local Karate schools just to test their skills in
Judo and Jiu Jitsu and found out how easy it was to defeat these stand up styles! Although
he cheated by not telling the local Karate schools that he also did Karate and Kung Fu for 15
years at that time. Oh well.
He saw this and enjoyed watching the fact that his taking Judo and Jiu Jitsu was defeating
all stand up fighting styles around. He then knew he invested wisely in learning Judo and Jiu
Jitsu. With the growth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Gracie Jiu Jitsu defeating stand up fighting
systems it was nice to know that in another part of the world there are like minded people
practicing a similar art. Later in years Shamuel hooked up with friends practicing Gracie Jiu
Jitsu and he has been practicing it ever since.

Shamuel has been doing NHB or Vale Tudo against local schools and fighters in a friendly
forum. Due to his job and supporting a family, Shamuel never had the luxury to invest in
heavy competitions when the UFC or Vale tudo were televised. But like many of his
counterparts in Brazil, Shamuel was well into doing Vale Tudo-NHB early in 1987.

As time and money went flying by, Shamuels work in the security field grew, he was certified
with basic pistol in 1987 when he attended the local companies pistol training class. His
teacher said that he was a "natural pistol shooter" due to the fact that he scored highest in
his security shooting course. So he did what was natural to him and got involved with the
local shooting club. Three times a month he would go shooting pistol and rifle. In 1992 he
received his Pistol-Rifle-personal protection instructor certificate and later competed in
IPSC and Practical pistol shooting competitions. Again due to his work and the support for
his family Shamuel could not invest the time he wanted into the sport to bring him the big
LOTTO he was dreaming about. No, he would have to live with the fact that the Creator had
hard work planned for him.

Shamuel has been teaching combat shooting for security and civilians alike since 1993.
Shamuels talent and love for the security field climbed a new height and he did many
contracts for private groups and civilians.

Today Shamuel teaches and works executive security for Haganah Security International as
well as a relationships counselor for troubled youth and family counselor for a Bible school.

Shamuel also founded his own system of Krav Maga known as Amanuut Krav Maga (Art of
contact combat) in 1993 as well as the more sporty and non weapon version of Krav Jiu
Jitsu in 1993. If you know what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is, then you'll know what Krav Jiu Jitsu is.

Shamuels security history started back in 1987 working for a security firm doing constuction
security in a neghborhood that was anything but quiet and safe. Safety was a thing left
behind at home. From the homeless to the drug addicts to the gang members,things were not
fun. Shamuels first security assigment was anything but boring. As he grew and his interest
in security grew, he joined the military which was his life long dream that was cut short by
knee injuriees due to the many years of Kick boxing and martial arts that took its toll on the
knees. Shamuel continued his security training with private security firms and security
schools. It is not the purpose of this Bio. to get into his resume of his long security career
which started in 1987, but to give a basic outline.

With this in mind, Shamuel took many seminars and collage courses and private security
training. As well as receiving a 2 year diploma in Law enforcement (Police) work. Shamuel
has worked side by side with Police from all over the world as well as private bodyguards
from all over the world. In 1990 Shamuel went into the body guarding field, working contracts
with private people that were going to court for many different issues, he took cases from
social service clients that were being stalked and abused by ex-spouces or other mentally
deranged criminals. Later he found himself working in retail security investigations as well as
night club security. Also as a private security escort of private persons with multi million
dollar jewelry and artwork.

Later in life, Shamuel has worked in escorting traveling clients to the middle east and other
such places that required low profile security escorts. He has taught military personnel and
police personnel from many different countries to the fine art of security escorting as well as
firearms and self protection. Since 1987 Shamuel has taken security work ranging from
store detective, to missing persons investigations to body guarding. Nowadays Shamuel is
spending time teaching his craft to many other individuals entering the Security and Police
field.
