HSI Group had the pleasure of hosting a three day anti and counter surveillance
seminar in Valkeakoski on the 27th to 29th of June 2007. The participants were
from different private security companies as well as data recovery and IT
forensics company. They learned about surveillance and how to detect if being
under surveillance. Peter Jenkins, the author of an international best selling
book on surveillance, a professional from Great Britain offered us experiences
and information and an excellent study atmosphere getting everybody to take

Understanding suicide bombers
HSI has currently conducted a course in “The culture of martyrdom radical in Islam”.
The seminar was conducted for some of Finland most professional and expert security
consultants. Attendants were from Law enforcement to Hotel security management as well
as professional security consulting firms.
The course was an 8 hour intensive course on the “suicide bomber” culture and mentality.
The “suicide bombers” method of terrorism and spread of radical Islam is an on going
phenomena globally and in the Middle East. How will this affect the European Union and the
further spread of radical Islamic groups in the European areas as well as Scandinavia?

The need for anti kidnapping training for VIP drivers & Flight crew
The increasing possibility for kidnapping raises as the VIP level of your
customer goes up. The more visible and valuable your clients become, the
higher potential of an attack becomes.
Throughout the world Kidnappers target people that they deem will be worth
something to them or their cause. Clients such as business leaders, political
figures, the wealthy or their families are an increasing target. A matter of fact
anyone with information that they deem important is at risk of a potential
kidnapping in this context.
Bodyguards and other security staff are typically trained to protect their clients
from harm. But, who trains the people transporting those VIPs? To target the
transportation services they use is an ever increasing danger.
Transportation businesses such as private drivers and private aircraft crew
must also understand the dangers of being kidnapped and targeted for
information, and are an ever increasing worry not only to the clients themselves
but also for the company providing the transport services.
These transportation companies are the easiest targets to target by individuals
that are seeking to get to a potential client. Even if the criminals cannot get to
their target, they can target the transport crew. By targeting the transport crew,
they may force the VIP clients to seek alternative means for transport forcing
the client to be exposed until they find another safe travel mode.
Companies should be more aware of the potential dangers their crew may be
facing. Within their yearly training, security related training should also be part
