HSI Group
proudly conducted the first Air pilots/ Air stewardess
security awareness seminar in Helsinki Finland.
This first of many seminars that are aimed towards air
crew personnel who are employed for private airlines
as well as public airlines. The seminars goal was to
educate pilots and cabin crew members on the topics
of personal security as it relates towards their
employment in the airlines industry.
In the course we covered topics such as
Basic historical trends and goals of terrorist
organizations and their links to organized crime.
How modern terrorist organizations use a countries
local criminal element in gathering information and
inelegance.
- Crimes and criminal organizations
How kidnapping and robbery as well as sex
crimes effect aircrew members.
How to blend in and make yourself a hard target
as well as recognizing the fact that in travel you
unconsciously make yourself a soft target for crime.
- Security from airport to hotels
Threat awareness and threat recognition
Hotel security procedures to stay safe and aware
that the criminal element range from hotel management
to hotel security staff. Also how to recognize hotel room
surveillance.
- Hard target and soft target
Students are taught the basics of blending in and survival.
How to recognize threats around you by simple observation.
(This is harder than you think.)
Students in this phase learn the basics of human behavior
facial body language as it relates to threats and other
problematic issues that flight crew may encounter.
Air pilots / cabin crew as well as company management were confronted with the reality
of being targeted for crimes ranging from from street criminals to organized crime with links and connections to
terrorist organizations. Attendants of the seminar were pilots, stewards, general management as well as FCAA
Finnish Civil Aviation Administration.
HSI believes in educating and training aircrew on security awareness and crime recognition during
air travel as well as land travel. Currently around the world the topic of brining on sky marshals to
public airlines is a hot topic. However good that may be, we at HSI also believe that a well trained
aircrew are the front line people to stop or reduce 90 percent of the incidents that take place on airlines.
Training aircrew members on body language as well as threat recognition is a grossly neglected issue, and we
at HSI are on the cutting edge of this training to promote this topic to the airlines crew and
management.
The caring management of this private air firm saw a need and took action to take care of employee
safety at home as well as abroad. We at HSI applaud the management staff of this company for taking the time
and recognizing the fact that aircrew must be trained in safety and security.
Airline staff should recognize that fact that they are potential
targets for criminals looking to target them for information,
kidnapping as well as political statements by terrorist and
organized crime groups. Not recognizing this simple fact, that
airlines pilots and crew have information on customers as well
as flight plans of the aircraft already make them high risk
targets for kidnapping. HSI airlines pilot and cabin crew
security safety seminars shows the aircrew staff as well as
company management how easily accessible these
employees are to kidnapping. We show the companies the
fact they are "soft targets" to crimes relating to their
employment with airlines.
The participants gave very positive feedback:
”The seminar gave an updated picture of the worlds political threat situation as well as useful ways to stay safe
while traveling around the world. The topic was so interesting and broad that one could have sat listening this for
a week. The trainer spoke very clear and understandable English.”
Head of Unit / Finnish Civil Aviation Authority
"The teaching we received was very informative and showed expertice. The feedback from the participants after
the seminar was positive. We are glad to recommend this training to everybody that needs it."
